PRODUCT OF THE WEEK | Eco Pantry Skincare

Posted Wednesday, 30 November 2016

This week we have our first men focused product of the week. With the beard gang well established worldwide, Lagos is no different, there is no surprise that beard centred products are on the rise. What is really great is that local brands are picking up on the trend and the need for men to groom their beards by developing natural, locally made products.

Eco Pantry Skincare

Eco Pantry Skincare is produces and sells skincare products with natural Eco-friendly ingredients. Their products are handmade  in small batches from ingredients in plants, herbs and mineral resources. Their product range is for both men and women including scrubs, lip butters, oils, soaps and balms. For this review we focused on the male centric products, the beard oil and beard balm. With the staff in the office either being women or not having a beard we recruited two volunteers to try the products.

The beard oils come in three scents, Minty Sandalwood, Herbal Citrus and Root. One of our volunteers tried the Minty Sandalwood, and he said it was cool, literally. He mentioned that even after 30 minutes he could still feel the cooling effect. This makes sense due to the ingredients, mint, almond oil, grapeseed, caster oil and sage. The oil is a beard moisturiser that adds shine and volume.

The packaging and branding has an eco friendly and slick look, which I like. The bottle has matching branding with a red dropper. The dropper threw out volunteer off as he was unsure of why there is a dropper and if there are recommended doses. Shrug?

He really enjoyed trying the product, however he did say he may need more time to notice the different to his beard (we gave him two days so that's understandable).

The moisturising beard balm has all the good oils from the beard oil plus cocoa butter, shea butter and organic beeswax. The smell is super yummy, choclaty-vanilla, yum!

Overall, our volunteers are having a nice time trying the products from Eco Pantry Skincare and the products are proving to be all good so far. I love the sustainability vibe as well. They have a refill and recycle policy. All this all just so exciting!

A bit about Product of the Week:

Every week either Lost in Lagos staff or you the consumer will be sent an item to test and comment on. These products will be anything from a tasty meal to a scoop of delicious ice-cream or from a piece of furniture to a cute designer wallet. We are sourcing local businesses, shops and designers so we can tell you about what’s new and what’s hot in Lagos.

If you have a product you want us to test, let us know and we will try to get our hands on it so you know if it is right for you.

A bit about me:

I am a young, 30 something lady who loves Lagos and trying new things. From restaurants and exotic food, to experiencing new places and cities, I love new new! Having new businesses and companies popup in Lagos on a daily basis makes Lagos exciting and a fantastic place to live.
