Simply Green has definitely made a name for itself in the healthy food space in Nigeria. When I hear Simply Green, I automatically think organic, fresh detox juice, but they refuse to be placed in a box—They also own a cute little cafe at Workstation in Victoria Island.
Workstation is the perfect location for this cafe as it’s stationed where a lot of millenials troop in daily. It would have been great to have a clear sign outside, however, I immediately figured it would be behind the door labelled ‘Cafe’.
The place is quite small. It seats about 8 people comfortably on the inside and also has outdoor seating. It's a very rustic setting with wooden furniture all over. The decor is very light and ‘green’, very well thought out and fitting for the brand’s theme.
Even though I got there 10 minutes before closing time, they still rendered great service and took their time to make my food.
I ordered the Fully Loaded Wrap mostly because of the name. It just sounded like it would be really filling and it had a lot of yummy protein goodness including tender beef strips, scrambled eggs, sausages and cheese with bell peppers in a tortilla wrap. It was presented beautifully with a salad on the side, which included carrots, kale and cucumber in balsamic vinegar, honey and olive oil dressing. The mixture of sweet and sour in the salad dressing completely drowned the bitter taste of the kale. I'd definitely eat more kale if it tasted like this.
I decided to pair my meal with a cup of Iced Chai Latte. I usually have it hot but the cold version was as nice, maybe even sweeter. I was definitely sold by the iced chai. The temperature I go with next time will definitely depend on the kind of mood I'm in.
You cannot visit Simply Green and leave without having one of their Signature Detox Juices. Abomination! I selected one with a few of my favorite things: apple, carrot, pineapple, orange, lemon and ginger *insert Sound of Music soundtrack*. I still don't understand how healthy food can taste so good!
I'll certainly recommend Simply Green Cafe to not only fitfam folks but everyone in general. It's very affordable, it's yummy and it's healthy. What more can you ask for?
p.s. They also offer a daily lunch menu which includes rice and pasta, and deliver around the Victoria Island and Lekki areas.
