A pit stop is defined as a brief rest, especially during a long journey. However, your visit to PitStop Lagos should be anything but brief. There is so much care and thought put into every detail, from the space to the food, that to really appreciate it, it takes time.
The theme of the space is a celebration of the athlete, especially those who understand what it means to endure the most challenging conditions in the hardest competitions. With sports memorabilia and beautifully framed photos of the greatest moments in sports, PitStop Lagos certainly inspires the athlete in all of us. Motivated by the owners’ love of cycling, the theme is very much evident throughout the restaurant, from the bright yellow bike frames cleverly used to separate the dining spaces and the smoothie bikes by the entrance where you can blend your own smoothie as you ride, to the bicycle & accessories store and the bike workshop on the second floor for the serious riders and those ready to take on a new challenge. And of course, the Wattbike Studio which is the most modern high-tech stationary bike, is definitely a good place to challenge yourself to a great workout.
Having been open for just a few months before closing due to the pandemic, PitStop Lagos has endured a great deal before they finally reopened just last month. They took their time to reopen, to ensure they maintained the highest standards when it came to their food and service, and that they certainly have.
Their menu is concise, with a focus on eating clean, wholesome food, all of which is made from scratch. If they can’t make it themselves, they won't serve it. They open early for breakfast, providing delicious, wholesome fuel to start your day, and, of course, for lunch and dinner. It is undoubtedly the perfect pit stop for cyclists and runners alike. With a large variety of smoothies that will give you that boost to keep going, this is the perfect place to refuel or even end your ride or run.
The food truly deserves to be relished for those who have the luxury of staying for more than a quick pit stop. The spicy peanut sauce that comes with the Grilled Chicken Skewers Satay is ‘moreish’ and should be bottled and sold separately. The homemade peanut sauce beautifully dresses the naked grilled chicken, completing a perfect ensemble that is hard to put down. The Grilled Chicken, Bacon, and Avocado Salad come fully dressed with vibrant green avocado and lettuce leaves, homemade croutons, marinated chicken breast and the perfect crispy bacon strips, a fresh lemon and olive oil dressing on the side, and the most delicious homemade buns that should also be packaged and sold!
The main event is the main course. The show-stopping Jumbo Grilled Prawns is a feast for the eyes. The giant succulent prawns deserve to be photographed before they are devoured. The generous portions come with roasted vegetables, a side of pepper sauce and homemade gravy. Another impressive dish, the Thick Cut Grilled Pork Chops, is beautifully presented atop creamy mashed potatoes and encircled by a delicate wreath of roasted vegetables, and dollops of sweet apple puree that perfectly complement the pork chops.
There is no better way to end the perfect meal than with the perfect cappuccino, and they definitely know how to make a cappuccino. Presented in an elegant cup, the cappuccino has just the right ratio of milk to espresso. Coupled with a super moist Carrot Cake, the pit stop is now complete.
A bright, happy and inspiring space for sports and food enthusiasts alike, PitStop Lagos is a destination that must be experienced on your culinary journey.
