The Badagry Heritage Museum occupies the historic building that was the first administrative office in Nigeria. The former District Officer’s office that houses the Museum was built in 1863 and the Museum houses some relics and stories on the slave trade and its abolition. The Badagry Heritage Museum, officially opened in 2002 by former Lagos State governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, occupies the historic building that was the first administrative office block in Nigeria. The museum traces the story of Badagry’s association with the Slave Trade and houses several relics dating back to the era of slavery.
